Friends of North Kingstown Arts Council is a 501 (c) 3 federal non-profit. Our mission is to help the North Kingstown Arts Council bring arts and cultural programming to North Kingstown with financial and event management support.

The North Kingstown Arts Council is a municipal committee, meaning it is a part of the North Kingstown government. They rely exclusively on funding exclusively from the town and private donations, which limits the support they can offer to arts programming. That's where the Friends of NKAC comes in. As a federal 501(c)3 non-profit, the FoNKAC is able to apply to grants as their fiscal sponsor, offer tax deductable donations to citizens and corporations, and provide a wider resource base to the NKAC. Working together, we are able to think bigger, sustain beloved programming and bring new arts events and initiatives to North Kingstown.

Nancy Rafi

President
Nancy has been involved in event work throughout the state of RI for the past 40 years. She's produced fundraising events that include "The Vagina Monologues", the New England Quahog Festival and Sea Creature Parade, the Witch's Dance parade, along with being featured with a full page color spread in the New York Times for her production of a Mrs. Roper Romp held in both Providence and Newport. She started her philanthropic endeavors by getting a firetruck donated from the city of Newport and shipped to Tblisi, Georgia after the fall of the Soviet Union. Nancy has lived in RI for more than 50 years and has called Wickford home for the past 25.

Sel truly believes that making the world a better place starts with you. They sit on the North Kingstown Arts Council and manage their social media & website. Other community engagements include membership to RI Transit Riders, Gather.NK, and fostering dogs with SOSARL. They are a freelance graphic designer and illustrator specializing in branding for small businesses. In their spare time, they go birdwatching, ride bicycles, and spend time on the water in their sailboat.

Brian has recently retired after 41 years of civil service, with the last 25 years as the Deputy Comptroller. A graduate of Bryant University, he has lived in RI his entire life - first in South Providence, then Cranston, Newport and North Kingstown for the last 25 years. He is an avid blues guitar enthusiast, and enjoys gardening and traveling now that he's retired.
